About me
First, the disclaimer: Not that I think I have to tell anyone this, but nothing written here should be taken to represent the views or policies of my employer; any agency, department, or organization of the U.S. government; or pretty much anyone else but me.
My name is Chris, and I’m a civilian who provides contract support to the U.S. military in the national capital region. I grew up in Texas, got a history degree from a large public university there, and did graduate work in eastern Europe for two years. I’ve studied French, Polish, Persian, Russian, and a tiny bit of ancient Greek; my equivalent functional competencies in those languages range from six year-old to handicapped infant (and tending more toward the latter).
I haven’t made any sincere effort to make myself anonymous online; my feeling on the subject is that I probably shouldn’t be writing anything that I’d be uncomfortable claiming as my own, and in any event I regularly post in blog comments and on message boards under my real name. That said, there are times when the subjects that interest me brush up a little too closely against my work, and I’m going to try to avoid writing about that stuff here. But remember the disclaimer!
You can contact me here, and I hope you will.
